Over the past year, I’ve been collecting fonts of metal type for printing and needed a place to store them. I considered buying a full-size type cabinet, but they’re huge and expensive. Instead, I decided to buy a single case and turn it into an end table.
It was fairly easy to build. I bought hairpin legs from Bald Man Mod, attached them to a pine base, set the drawer on the base with rubber bumpers for stability, and added a custom glass top.

I love it. It only stores one font and some miscellaneous cuts, so I might eventually stack three cases with the glass on top. But I’m pretty happy with it as is, for now.

A while back, I made plans to make something nerdy for our increasingly nerdy house (more on that in a future post). It occurred to me that no medium was better suited to pixel art than cross-stitching. So, being a Zelda geek, I drew up an 8-bit life meter on graph paper and started stitching.

I love it so much that I’m already working on smaller non-pillow versions to sell as a Brain&Brain product when we eventually launch it. Patience, fellow nerds!

I found a drafting table at a yard sale down the street this morning! I’m using it for storyboarding at the moment, and I plan to turn it into an animation desk soon.
